Font - Serious discussions being had about letting go an extremely valuable employee because he's being paid "too much" I'll keep this short and sweet. I work at a company that is very profitable. Our warehouse is being run extremely efficiently by an employee who has 20+ years in the business and who's staff loves him. Everyone is happy. Work is tough at times but everything always works out. He gets to work early, he works late if need be. He never calls out sick, and those under him respect h

Font - Ideal employee, right? Well it's come to my attention recently that the President of the company is looking to make budget cuts. Apparently what said valuable employee is getting paid is too much, and from what it sounds like the process of pushing him out has already started. The person who they want to replace him? Me. You can guess how I feel that will play out... No one has discussed this with me or said valuable employee, either, as far as I know. I found out from someone who confide

Font - Anyway - kind of ranting here. I think it's ridiculous and it's depressing. We're talking someone who's probably 5 years away from retirement and who has been extremely loyal to this company. Busts his aOevery day to make them millions, but they're willing to cut him loose over a few thousand dollars. Man it ss. As a younger guy I'd like to think that if I put my best foot forward and show my value everything will work out. Maybe not, eh?

Font - EDIT: DISCLAIMER - I've LOVED this job since I was brought on. This is the first company I've worked for that has run seamlessly and doesn't have any drama. *EVERYONE* is dependable and good at what they do. So this bit of info has really kicked me in my proverbial dok.

Font - cero1399 If they force him out and "offer" you the position, ask for the same pay as he was making or you won'taccept. Would love to see how that works out. 333 Reply Share APACKOFWILDGNOMES 7 hr. ago Ask for more, that way the guy they let go seems like a better option. If they go with a third party it pi everyone off and will cause people to look into other work. 163 Reply Share

Font - CovidIsolation - 7 hr. ago They are going to cut off their nose to spite their face. No one will show up early anymore. No one will put their best into the company, because they've seen what the company did to the best employee on staff. Warn that guy, and don't take the job. If you interview for the position, ask what the prior employee did wrong so you can avoid making the same mistake. 130 Reply Share

Font - FlimsyEmu9 OP. 7 hr. ago There wouldn't be any interviewing. I work at the same place. He'd be gone and I'd be in. In the email chain I was shown the exact words that our Operations Manager said when asked if fellow employees would follow suit if he was let go - "They won't leave, these guys have bills to pay". ↑ 97 Reply Share

Font - CovidIsolation - 7 hr. ago Wow. How long before you're paid too much as well? They are pretty awful. 64 Reply Share Flimsy Emu9 OP. 7 hr. ago Right. I mean I gathered that he's making substantially more than me (despite "technically" overseeing him and his guys in the position I'm in right now). Which doesn't bother me - I think the guy deserves it. And this job is the highest paying job I've had by far.

Font - When I say "high paying" I mean comparatively, of course. We're talking blue collar wages ha. I dug ditches for fog years making slomoney. Now I have an office? SHEESH! 48 Reply Share

Font - Designer Profile 6 hr. ago You're overseeing him and that branch of the company. Write up a commendation that you'd like to give him and support it with numbers -- his expertise and management of those under him saves us a major contributor to the and is profitability of this company etc etc Submit it like you haven't heard a thing about any other plans. ↑ 71 ↓ Reply Share ●●●

Font - UrdnotCum - 7 hr. ago Tell the employee, ask him to take an 'unexpected' week off. Make upper management see what would happen if he was gone. That also gives warehouse manager a week to find a new job if needed. Reply Share 37
